Airfree

About / Corporate Governance

Built on accountability.
Guided by ethics.

Airfree Group holds itself to the highest standards of corporate conduct — because the technology we build underpins critical infrastructure, sensitive land records, and decisions that affect communities. Governance is not a compliance exercise here; it is how we earn the right to operate.

Group Structure

Legal entity structure

A parent holdco owns all intellectual property, brand rights, and shared infrastructure — licensed to operating subsidiaries. This structure protects customers, clarifies liability, and enables subsidiary-level governance.

Framework

Four pillars of governance

Board Oversight

The Airfree Group board maintains independent oversight of strategic direction, capital allocation, risk appetite, and executive accountability. Board committees meet quarterly with full access to audit, compliance, and operational reporting.

Risk Management

A structured enterprise risk framework spans operational, financial, cyber, and reputational risk. Each subsidiary maintains a risk register reviewed at group level, with escalation protocols and mandatory incident reporting within 24 hours.

Data Ethics

Our Data Ethics Council — drawn from engineering, legal, and independent advisors — reviews all data products and AI systems prior to deployment. Ethics assessments are mandatory for any system that processes personal or sensitive geospatial data.

Regulatory Compliance

Airfree operates across multiple jurisdictions and maintains active compliance programmes for Australian and international frameworks. Dedicated compliance officers sit within each subsidiary with reporting lines to group legal.

Policies

Governing policies

Our policy suite covers the full lifecycle of data, AI, supplier relationships, and internal conduct. Policies are reviewed annually and updated to reflect legislative changes or material operational shifts.

Privacy Policy

Governs collection, use, storage, and disclosure of personal information across all Airfree products and services, aligned to the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and GDPR.

Data Governance Framework

Defines data ownership, classification, retention, and access control standards across group entities. Includes lineage requirements for geospatial and satellite-derived datasets.

AI Ethics Policy

Establishes principles and review criteria for the development and deployment of machine learning and AI systems — including fairness assessments, model explainability standards, and human oversight requirements.

Supplier Code of Conduct

Sets minimum standards for labour practices, environmental responsibility, data handling, and anti-corruption compliance expected of all Airfree suppliers and third-party partners.

Whistleblower Policy

Provides protected, confidential channels for employees, contractors, and third parties to report concerns about misconduct, fraud, or ethical breaches, consistent with the Corporations Act 2001.

Compliance

Regulatory certifications

We hold and actively maintain certifications across information security, privacy, and government assurance frameworks.

Responsible AI

Ethics in artificial intelligence

Airfree builds AI systems that process satellite imagery, land records, and location data for governments and regulated enterprises. The stakes are high. Our responsible AI programme operationalises four principles across every system we ship.

Principle 01

Fairness

AI systems are evaluated for bias across protected attributes before deployment. Ongoing monitoring flags distributional drift that could introduce or amplify disparate outcomes.

Principle 02

Transparency

Model decisions affecting individuals or public outcomes include accessible explanations. We publish model cards for externally deployed AI systems.

Principle 03

Accountability

Clear ownership is assigned to every AI system in production. An audit trail records training data provenance, version history, and approval sign-offs.

Principle 04

Privacy by Design

Privacy controls are built into AI systems from the design stage — not retrofitted. Data minimisation, purpose limitation, and on-device processing are preferred over centralised collection.
