Create a filter rule

Automatically sort, label, or archive mail with server-side filter rules.

Filter rules run on the server, so they apply no matter which device you read mail on.

Building a rule

  • Settings → Filters → New filter.
  • Choose conditions (from, subject, contains) and how they combine.
  • Choose actions: move to folder, label, mark read, archive, or delete.
  • Filters run top to bottom — order them from most to least specific.
